Mr. Gimpy

Don't worry....the doctor has arrived (and she is super cute)
The surgeon is prepped and ready....
The day after surgery, the patient can even read....
Day of surgery....let me just say that this moment was unscripted. Sometimes, I script things for a "cutesy" pic but this was just Creed saying "I think I should pray for dadda's knee." Sweet...not much in life compares.

The hubby is recovering from knee surgery that ended up being more extensive than we thought. He is doing very well, though. The last surgeries he had he was literally asleep and non-cognitive for about 3 days post op. Well, this time that is much better. He will have quite a lot more recovery but is gimpin' around right now. He is leading worship for a big nation wide event on Thursday, so we are hoping that he at least is able to sit at the keyboard for that. The dr. who did the surgery (who goes to our church) said that we may need to think about changing denominations to one that doesn't require as much movement when singing and leading with the band :)

My kiddos have been trying to take care of daddy. Lots of help, let me just say....lots of "help" (quotations operative).

I love my body

How can a photographer get such terrible pictures of her own kids? I have no idea, yes...I know it looks like I told them to intentionally make their faces look awkward. :)
The "lungs" actually fill up with air. That's pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

We have been studying the human body for several weeks and here is the culmination. Lest you think I do something like this everyday, I should say ahead of time that I don't (and for good reason). This kind of thing takes time, lots of it. And, even though the directions make it seem like the kiddos can do it with minimal adult help, that is bunk. It was fun, nonetheless.

Sunny and Kristine plus 9

Where is Rinny?
There she is! (Hiding under the hat)

Kinda like the show Jon and Kate plus 8 ...you know? Oh well, I thought it was a cute title anyway.

My new friend Kristi came over with her little ones today. We just love hanging out with them, they are such a great fam.

Where is my camera when I need it, dang it. Oh well, we tried it again with Creed's and it worked okay. The cute-ness factor makes up for it.

Busy...but not too busy

We are super busy with school, but not too busy to think about baby "k." Missing my little one dearly today. The forum (where all our friends announce they have received referrals) is just been very strangely quiet lately. It seems to have really slowed down. As the days pass it is seeming less and less likely that baby "k" will be home by Christmas. I'm sad. I'm willing to wait forever, if that's what it takes...just hoping it doesn't take forever.

Back to School

I have to start this post by saying that some posts are for other people, and some are just for me and you are welcome to read along. That is originally why I started a blog, kind of to journal what our day to day life is like since I have been really stinky at scrapbooking lately. This way I can look back and remember what our days have looked like over the past years. That being said, this blog may be kind of boring for you but it is for me to remember what our first day back to school was like.

Creed kept saying "this isn't our first day of school." He was a little confused because we really only took one month off but it really was our first official day of kindergarten for him. Although, we got a head start since we schooled in June and July.

What our day looked like:
Woke up
Make beds/got dressed
Creed came into our room (it was early and we were still asleep) and said "thanks for the balloons, mom....how sweet. We had covered the living room floor with balloons to celebrate back to school.
I got up and went to fix cinnamon rolls for our special breakfast (Rinny helped....she is totally my little kitchen helper)
They licked the spoon to get a little extra sugar boost
They ate/ I got ready
Pledge/Bible Pledge/Prayer
Bible Lesson....I love it. We are learning this week how to tell what is Truth by using our senses/reasoning/learning/and ultimately by God's Word. The blindfolded picture was during Bible Lesson...they had to smell some shampoo and when I said "this is bacon" they had to say true/false based on their reasoning/senses. They both got it right...Rinn totally cheated though :)
Bible Color Sheet; True/False statements
Reading Lesson: Phonetics note cards, letter flash cards, and easy readers x3 stories that Creed read
Science Lesson: Human Body Unit study; Stomach and muscles today; discuss and do color sheet; attach to human body cut out in proper spot
Math: Number flash cards (this is a HUGE weakness for Creed...we've got to work on numbers this year), Number Dominoes
Literature: Five in a Row; Story of Ferdinand; read and discuss author's use of repitition and act out the scene of Ferdinand sitting on a bee (this was the highlight of the day, of course)
Reading out loud: Horton Hears a Who and Berenstain Bears The Big honey Hunt

Off to do some more reading and to rest (Rinny is sleeping). Creed has his first soccer practice of the year tonight. Pray that he listens well to his coach (Coach Daddy!)

Labor Day Fun

What is "Labor" day anyway? Well, regardless...we enjoyed the extra day off. We had tons of fun. My brother was in from NYC with his wife and my sister (the one who lived in AZ) just moved back with her hubby. Happy Day.

We all hung out several times, the latest being a trip to a favorite pizza joint and a group photo afterward. Of course, this is minus the doggies that are part of the family as well (Rinn was pretty upset that "Elpie" didn't get to come have pizza with us....why in the world a food establishment wouldn't allow dogs roaming around is beyond her!).

We also enjoyed some just Micah, me, and the kids time too. Tea party (Creed's favorite...shhh!), school supply shopping (school starts TOMORROW!), and a little water park fun.

Disclaimer: Many of these photos were taken with Creed's camera....quality like 1.2 megapixels...nice (hey, it's better than no picture at all!)

Age Six (Now!)

Man, time flies. I'm so thankful for this little guy.

Lord, Thank you for entrusting us with Creed. Thank you for having the faith in us that we could handle all the energy and fun that comes along with him. We are so thankful for having him in our lives and can't imagine life without his exhuberance, energy, fun, broadway shows, happiness, joy, love, and craziness. What fun he brings to our lives. Thank you for the miracle of Creed.
